About the FlexCare & FlexCare+

The FlexCare range was built around gum care, pairing a standard clean with a gum-massage mode, and on the FlexCare+ a longer, gentler routine. It is an older platform sold under both HX and R model numbers depending on the market, so the code on the handle base matters more here than on newer ranges.

What are booheads heads actually made of?

A bamboo body with castor-oil based plant bristles. No plastic handle, and nothing exotic — just the two materials, which is why they feel different to the original.

How often should I replace my head?

Every three months, or sooner if the bristles start to splay. Worn bristles clean less well and are harder on your gums.

Will my brush head replacement reminder still work?

No, and it's worth knowing why. That amber light runs off a microchip inside Philips' own heads, so with ours it stays off. Nothing else changes — full power, the timer, the pacer and the pressure sensor all work exactly as they do now.

How many heads come in a pack?

Four, which is about a year of brushing if you change every three months.
